SugarFest

Held every year on the first Sunday in October, this annual sweet celebration of the sugar cane harvest has been growing strong since 1995. SugarFest provides visitors with a free opportunity to learn about local culture, music and history with a variety of folk art and occupational craft demonstrations, tours of the museum’s exhibits and historic buildings, cane cutting and grinding demonstrations, cane syrup boiling, and of course, live music. Ethel Claiborne Dameron Lecture Series

This lecture series is held annually in memory of Ethel Claiborne Dameron, founder of the West Baton Rouge Historical Association and West Baton Rouge Museum. This program, held October 20, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the museum at 225-36-2422 ext. 200.

Halloween

The West Baton Rouge Parish Library and the West Baton Rouge Museum promise tricks, treats, and terribly fun activities and entertainment for Halloween revelers, young and old on the grounds of the West Baton Rouge Museum. All are welcome to come in costume and are encouraged to bring goodie bags for collecting sweet treats. The Library and Museum have jointly sponsored annual Halloween festivities since 1993. All are welcome to come in costume and are encouraged to bring goodie bags for collecting sweet treats for this event on October 18, 2019 from 6 - 8 p.m.

Veterans on Parade

The annual West Baton Rouge “Veterans on Parade"  is designed to bring veterans and their families together with the general public to show our appreciation for their service and the sacrifices they make to protect our freedom and keep our nation safe. The West Baton Rouge Museum will be open free of charge for veterans, their families, parade goers, and the general public, following a Veterans Memorial Ceremony. 

Holiday Open House

The museum will hold its annual "Holiday Open House" on Sunday, December 8, 2019. The event is free and open to the public.
